Welcome to the first annual issue of the Alleviation: An International Journal of Nutrition, Gender & Social Development. This journal has been created to keep abreast of issues related to Nutrition (i.e. Influence of various factors on nutrition of the individual and community; nutritional status of children, women and men; digestion, absorption and metabolism of food; nutrient requirements in health and disease, the impact of nutrient intake on disease response, work performance and behavior; nutrition and immunity; nutrition and chronic diseases; nutritional deficiencies; nutrition and aging; nutrition and obesity; and intervention programs), Gender (i.e. Women’s access to micro saving schemes and microfinance, women’s role in crop, livestock, fishery and microenterprise activities; gender division of labor; gender analysis; gender planning; gender relations; gender equality; gender training; gender rights; gender discrimination; gender mainstreaming; gender needs; multitasking of women; government policies to empower women; improvements to women's lives; and women workers in the unorganized sector) and Social Development (i.e Broken homes and broken families; home environment; growth vs environment conservation; health care system; poverty eradication; employment generation; technology transfer and development; interpersonal relations; availability of food; quality of water and sanitation). The present journal will provide rich reference material for the researchers in future.

It has been very encouraging and great experience to bring out the second edition of the Alleviation: An International Journal of Nutrition, Gender & Social Development. It is a peer-reviewed journal with international editorial board with its establishment in 2014 by Arya PG College (College with Potential for Excellence Status by UGC), Panipat (Haryana), India.
The present edition of the journal features multifaceted issues related to Nutrition, Posture, Yoga , Health (Such as : Effect of type of family, its status and literacy levels on the nutritional status of adolescent girls; assessment of factors contributing to awkward posture in children while carrying their school bags; effect of yogic intervention on blood pressure and stress level of students; water sanitation and hygiene (wash) practices amongst slum girls of Chandigarh and a study of the health status of children), Gender (Such as : Role of khap panchayats for ameliorating social problems with special reference to female foeticide in Haryana; interpersonal relationship of adolescent girls with their working and non-working mothers; and constraints in women economic empowerment) and Social Development (Such as : Financial management in urban families of Haryana; success factors for innovative management; expenditure pattern of urban families; antimicrobial finished nyco for safe indian military; designing of cushion covers with the most preferred phulkari motifs using four implementation techniques; revival of batik with natural dyes from selected plant wastes; environmental concerns and household purchase practices of working women of Ludhiana city; and assessment & enhancement of knowledge of youth regarding green buildings for sustainable future). The present issue of the journal will be a great asset to the researchers, academicians and welfare organizations.

The current edition of the journal throws light on the various issues related to Nutrition [ Namely: efficacy of diet recommended at naturopathy centers on the weight reduction among essential hypertensive patients; attitudes of consumers towards organic products in Bhopal city], Gender [Namely: impact of nutrition education on the health of working women; study of menstrual hygiene among adolescent girls of government aided schools of Hathras; workplace stress of women and its management, and Social Development [Namely: music and spirituality: a mode of stress management; effect of bhoot shuddhi kriya on blood hemoglobin; community radio and societal development; academic stress of graduate teacher trainees in relation to their socio-economic status; study of teacher effectiveness among aided and non-aided college teachers; lower respiratory tract diseases (LRT) in children aged 0-5 years; development of garments using princess seam; and effect of different binders through screen printing on dinning sheets using selected motif]. This issue will be valuable for the researchers, academicians and extension activists.

The current issue highlights the quality of living and incidences of poverty of women workers in the unorganized sectors, innovative practices by grassroot women of Uttarakhand, role of women entrepreneurs in the glory of Madhubani folk art of Bihar, unnoticed plight of female domestic workers in Odisha: explaining the silence, involvement of women and men in household activities and knowledge regarding drudgery reducing technology, assessing the performance of time and resting period between different activities of brick kiln workers, empowering women of rural unorganized sector through digital transformation, role of ergonomics in clothing and textile industry, role of women entrepreneurship in Indian economy, impact of musculoskeletal disorders on the health of farm women engaged in rice transplantation, role of women in decision-making related to farm activities: a case study of Fatehabad and Jind district of Haryana state.
